American Trench was born during the Great Recession as a meditation on the nature of our economy. The idea was conceived in 2009 — that the greatest good we could do for those around us was to create something useful. First released in 2013, American Trench continues to be produced at a family-owned factory in northern New Jersey, about 20 minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel. The plaid lining of our trench coat is woven for us at another family-owned factory in North Carolina. The outer fabric, Ventile, is considered one of the finest cotton textiles in the world and is made from American-grown Supima cotton.
