Ashley Marshall, founder and creative director of Azuni London, has always drawn inspiration from his extensive global travels. He began his career as a professional chef in some of London's top kitchens, such as The Dorchester, The Ivy, and La Caprice, where he learned to harness his creative intuition to craft exquisite dishes by blending different flavors and ingredients. In 1996, Ashley applied this "mix and shake" talent to jewelry design, thus establishing the Azuni brand. Over the past 25 years, every Azuni collection has adopted a unique design approach.
Ashley's interest in jewelry and design was sparked during his travels in South America. He adopted an ethnographic approach to his research, immersing himself in various indigenous cultures and uncovering their ancient art and philosophies. The relationships he built with local artisans during this time led to the evolution of Azuni's first beautiful bead collection.
After returning to the UK, Ashley studied for three years at Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design in London to cultivate this interest and refine his craft. This led him to combine ancient and tribal art forms with contemporary pop culture and fashion trends, developing a jewelry style truly "between two worlds." Thus, Ashley's "Urban Tribal" concept was born.
