Country Road began as a team of four, opening their first store in Hawthorn. Under the leadership of Stephen Bennett, they started with a simple shirt, now known as the Country Road icon. The name was chosen to reflect the brand's spirit; 'Country' was selected to express a strong desire to create products with authenticity, while 'Road' acknowledges the path forward. A simple aesthetic became synonymous with the brand. The brand quickly evolved into Australia's first lifestyle brand; first designing our wardrobes, then furnishing our homes.
