In 1968, Mario Giannini opened an artisan workshop specializing in handmade footwear. It was called "The Duke" because it produced luxury goods for aristocratic clients. We are also in the heart of Italy, where medieval duchies fostered a thriving culture of art and craftsmanship. A few years later, the workshop evolved into a company, and in 1973 Doucal's was born, an English name expressing the Italian dream of appreciating the style and quality of English-made shoes.
Doucal's shoes are now designed with an English look and Italian fit, unique and guaranteed by an insole formed from a layer of memory foam, ensuring excellent foot comfort and freshness, combined with an antibacterial effect. These characteristics make the footwear popular in emerging markets.
