FutureLearn is the UK's first MOOC platform, founded in 2013 by The Open University, which has nearly 50 years of experience in distance education. The Open University is currently the most well-developed online university in the world, and the largest academic institution in the UK and Europe. Since launching its first course online in September 2013, FutureLearn has accumulated nearly 8 million users.
FutureLearn offers a wide range of courses across different fields, including 480 courses in areas such as engineering and mathematics, natural environment, society and humanities, business management, arts and media, mental health, language and culture, study skills, and technical programming. Course durations range from 2 to 10 weeks. These courses are primarily centered around specific topics within these fields.
