For over 90 years, Godfreys has been Australia and New Zealand's leading vacuum and cleaning expert. In 1931, when vacuum cleaners were typically sold by door-to-door salesmen, founder Godfrey Cohen purchased 30 vacuum cleaners for $50 (equivalent to $2,300 today) from a newspaper auction column and convinced his father to give him window space in the family furniture store. That was the birth of Godfreys—a new way to sell vacuum cleaners to the public.
90 years later, that initial $50 investment has grown into over 180 stores across Australia and New Zealand, making it the world's largest vacuum cleaner retailer and allowing us to reach more than 3 million satisfied customers.
