Oribe was founded in 2007 by Cuban-American celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales. The brand is widely recognized as a pioneer in the ultra-luxury hair care category. It has a presence in approximately 40 markets, primarily in Europe and the United States. In 1987, Oribe opened his first salon inNew York City. Oribe was described as a very bold and experimental hairstylist. He would create three-color and very "out-there" hairstyles. In the early 1990s, Oribe's career began to take off, and he opened a salon at Elizabeth Arden on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
