Riffraff's storefront opened in February 2009, when owner Kirsten Blowers was just 21 years old. Kirsten started selling her refurbished and hand-painted furniture, but quickly expanded to include clothing and small gifts. As Riffraff grew in popularity, more and more people began calling to ask if they could order by phone and have items shipped. Riffraff started selling new arrivals through their Facebook page and coined the term "run and ship" through their large Facebook following. Kirsten then decided it was time to take the business online. In 2012, shopriffraff.com launched and was an immediate success.
