ROYAL DOULTON was founded in 1815. In 1887, the founder JOHNDOULTON's son, HENRY DOULTON, was knighted by Queen Victoria, becoming the first potter in the UK to receive a knighthood. In 1901, DOULTON was authorized by King Edward VII as the royal tableware supplier and began to use the ROYAL title. Today, ROYAL DOULTON has become the largest exporter of bone china in the UK.
