American designers Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia co-founded the Sachin & Babi brand. After years of development, they decided to split the namesake brand into two parts, with the eveningwear line spun off under the new collective name "Noir," while Sachin & Babi continues as the contemporary ready-to-wear line.
The husband-and-wife design duo Sachin & Babi both dreamed of their Rorschach inkblot test-inspired prints, which appear on a series of intarsia knit sweaters and dresses. There are also embroidered pieces with bottom designs that hang from the edges, like dripping ink. Particularly notable is the black-and-white mesh slip dress, which the designers call "subwoofer" fabric (resembling the material structure of a speaker). At the same time, Ahluwalia also incorporates hand-painted leather and embroidered patches for a playful, fresh touch.
