1932 – Stahls' history begins in the home garage of husband-and-wife team A.C. and Ethel Stahl. Their family business in lettering, screen printing, chenille, and garment decoration was a combination of A.C.'s entrepreneurial spirit and his previous work experience using felt materials in a manufacturing plant. Stahls was known as Commercial Art Products in 1932, and one of the first products sold was chenille letters sewn onto a felt background. A.C. eventually developed processes for cutting materials using dies and presses. Today, just as in 1932, Stahls remains an innovator and leader in pre-cut and custom sports numbers, letters, and logos.
