Founded in 2011 and publicly listed in 2017, Stitch Fix was launched by Lake, a Harvard Business School graduate who became the youngest female entrepreneur to take a company public that year at just 34. According to the company's financial reports, Stitch Fix generated $1.2 billion in revenue and $45 million in profit for fiscal year 2018, with a cumulative user base of 2.9 million.
Stitch Fix currently partners with over 1,000 apparel companies, including designer brands with individual item prices ranging from $100 to $600, giving stylists a wide variety of clothing sources to choose from. If suitable clothing that meets customer needs cannot be found from existing sources, Stitch Fix will design and produce its own.
