Volcom can also be called "The Diamond." It is a殿堂级 American brand of skateboarding, surfing, and extreme sports apparel and accessories. In 1991, brand founders Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall embarked on a ski trip that would forever change their lives. Tucker quit his job, jumped in the car, and traveled to visit Nathan Fletcher and Gabriel. The following four days were fresh, with heavy snowfall that trapped them, forcing an extended stay of another week. Every morning they woke up to two feet of fresh snow. It was their first real experience, and new ideas for riding on snow kept emerging.
Therefore, after that ski trip, Richard quit his job just two weeks later. During the trip to Tahoe, he discussed starting a clothing company with Tucker, but they never actually did it. Until late spring of that year, the two came up with the idea of starting a snowboarding product company, and they began their venture. They based their operations at three nearby sports venues. The initial $5,000 in funding came from Richard's father, and they started the entrepreneurial process. The company was first named Volcom, and then the brand was born. The brand's philosophy originated from that particular era—the "rebellious generation." The brand spirit advocates and inspires the innovative thinking of young people.
