Founded in the 1930s and then reincorporated in 1948 as Hutton of Northampton, the first generation of Hutton was a force to be reckoned with. The shoes it launched became a cultural phenomenon, and the company was awarded the Queen's Award for Export in 1966. Hutton's suede high heels caused a sensation and were frequently worn by film actors such as Anthony Perkins, Jason Robards Jr., Robert Webber, Burgess Meredith, and West Coast baritone legend Gerry Mulligan.
