Shopping Guides

Inspired by appropriationism, Gucci's bold design this time brings the playful "Fake/Not" collection.

The "Fake/Not" collection has a unified style, with retro elements from the 80s visible everywhere. Large areas of Gucci logo retro prints cover bags, shoe uppers, apparel, and other items in the collection. High-saturation red and green stripes overlap with bright yellow "Fake" and "Not" text, closely blending appropriationism with fashion design. The "Fake/Not" collection is very extensive, including over a dozen items such as backpacks, tote bags, waist bags, travel bags, cosmetic cases, jackets, hoodies, sneakers, and slippers.

Additionally, Gucci collaborated with Hypebeast, drawing inspiration from 80s homemade magazines. Using techniques like photography, collage, and hand-drawing, they brought bold creations based on "Fake/Not". The "Fake/Not" collection is now available—find a channel to get your hands on it!

Further reading: Appropriationism originated in the Western art world. Classic artworks including the "Mona Lisa" have been "appropriated." Appropriationism later became widely popular in the mid-20th century, expanding from "appropriating" artworks to commodities and everyday items.
